LOTTADESIGN's Initiatives

Our Initiatives

At LOTTADESIGN., we value craftsmanship that connects "makers" with "wearers." We aim to create sustainable and heartfelt products in collaboration with local artisans.

【Transparent Manufacturing】

Transparent Manufacturing

Before a single pair of shoes becomes a product, various professionals, including designers, pattern makers, and last makers, are involved. In the manufacturing process, the role of "coordination," which connects each step, is crucial, and artisans communicate closely to create better shoes.

In the Japanese manufacturers and factories we partner with, mass production remains challenging due to an aging workforce and a shortage of successors. Nevertheless, shoemaking in Kobe-Nagata is a unique endeavor, offering an unparalleled blend of elegance, charm, and comfort.

We strive for fair trade and support manufacturing sites, while also creating appealing products that are only possible in Japan.

Made-to-Order Production

Shoes, with their wide range of sizes, constantly face issues of inventory risk and waste. We primarily adopt a "made-to-order" approach, avoiding excessive inventory and meticulously crafting each item. This sustainable style balances environmental consideration with quality.

Packaging Initiatives

To reduce our environmental footprint, we implement the following:

  • We minimize the use of cushioning materials.

  • We have abolished plastic bags in stores.

  • Product boxes are simple packaging, not gift boxes (we do not accept exchanges for damage such as crushing).

Charity Activities

LOTTADESIGN. conducts donation activities in the following ways:

  • Donating a portion of sales from ordered products

  • Donating a portion of proceeds from flea markets and sample sales

In particular, we endorse the activities of Certified NPO "ACE" and donate a portion of the sales from our custom-made shoes to the "Child-Friendly Fund."

This fund is used to support activities such as creating child-labor-free villages in cocoa-producing regions of Ghana (including educational support, vocational training, and household income improvement support), and promoting children's rights within Japan.

Diversity in Work Styles

We are exploring work styles that allow individuals to leverage their skills while respecting their lifestyles and time. We also value the atmosphere of Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, where we are based, and our relationships with the local community.

The era where choosing custom orders directly leads to sustainability.
Made to order. Made to matter.
